Newsday Reports - Principal Kevin Dougherty could get up to $400G after leaving Elmont Memorial High School

May 1, 2023

The importance of electing the right people to school board and then taking the time to hold them accountable.

Kevin Dougherty, principal of Elmont Memorial High School, was placed on an unexplained leave of absence before the beginning of the 2022-23 school year and will be receiving $400,000 in a settlement. The community is upset and confused about the loss of the popular educator, Newsday TV's Shari Einhorn reports. Credit: Newsday/James Carbone, Thomas A. Ferrara

I recommend subscribing to news day either digital or physical paper. I won't give you the full story behind Kevin Dougherty and The elmont school district. You can read that on news day. But I will remind you of the importance of voting in school board elections.

The long and short of it is administration wanted him gone and they need not explain why while paying him "$207,816.84 salary and bonuses worth a potential $203,908.50 through next school year". The school board has the right to do this unless parents demand other wise. The only recourse is to attain documents by law in order to get to the reasons why.

School Board elections are May 16th this year!
