A Showcase Experience for Local Talent

Local Artist Take the Stage in Commack

Local music talent had an opportunity to share their gift for all to see on Saturday, August 24th in Commack presented by Music JunKEY Entertainment. Upon arrival you were greeted by Big Time Media Station highlighting the evening’s artist lineup on the digital billboard screen. The video reel featured Interviews with the performers produced by Media Correspondent and Host of “In The Spotlight” Bebe Flight and behind the scene highlights preparing for the evening's event. Reminder, this is all outside! I haven’t even made it inside of the building yet, and in my mind all I could say is, “This is Niceee” in my Tiffany Haddish’s voice. Once inside, the ambience was everything. From the lights, high top tables, the photo backdrop, the judges table, to the host and her rhinestone studded ankle boots and stylish fedora. Great setup and very spacious for attendees.

Host for the evening was international recording artist
Ajada Reigns. Walking graciously to the stage, Ajada commanded the attention with her soulful sound with just a hum. That hum was just the beginning to what was in store for the night. Now, let’s get to the Artists. From Amityville to the Boroughs, 7 artists (2LProsper; Noelle Kay; MN4L Jacob; IzzyDaGawd; Kannon; The Pure; CodeaJay) hit the stage for 5 minutes. In those five minutes, that was their time to engage and capture everyone’s undivided attention while showcasing their talents in front of all in attendance. Performances ranged from Hip Hop, Rap and RnB.

As part of the evening's showcase, there were three individuals who provided their insight and expertise in the music industry to lend a supportive hand as judges. Judges included
Timothy Hopewell  CEO and Founder of “Street Cypha Magazine” and serves as Chief A&R for Melodream Entertainment and Radio. Mz. “Lipsticknlyricsz”  Bebe Flight, a Music & Media Journalist who worked with artists on media interview tips. Last but not least, Mr. Bruce Miller, over 20 years in the music industry. Bruce is the Founder & CEO of Blue Light Media and Executive Producer at Blue Butterfly Productions. In addition to being a businessman, Miller is a songwriter and credited for writing songs that has served as heartbreak therapy and the musical journal of our lives on the No More Drama album and the hot summer family bbq jam, “Family Affair.”

Performers were scored in the following categories: Stage Presence, Originality, Vocal Quality, Lyrical Content and audience participation. With all the amazing talent that was on the stage, the judges had some hard decisions to make. In this male dominated showcase there was only one female and that female came through and left nothing behind, and that was Noelle Kay. Noelle Kay showed a range in her vocal and skill ability with her music and lyrical content. She provided a little Neo-Soul and let the fellas know she could keep up with the rest of them and showcased her rhythmic rhymes to seal the win.

After speaking with Cassie B, founder of Music JunKEY Entertainment, she expressed the importance of providing a space for artists to showcase their talents with NO Artists Fee to Participate.. Music JunKEY also provided Artist Development for all of the artists before the showcase which included a Photoshoot, Interview Sessions, and Performance Tips.

The winner from this event receives a 2 Hour Studio Session at The Loft Sound Studio, an opportunity to perform at both Huntington Day and Ujamaa Fest, along with a Cash Prize. The event was sponsored by Collective Management, Kimmy Kim, Big Time Mini Trucks, The Loft Sound Studio and Black Long Island.

Overall, the experience was a whole vibe and a pleasure to attend. Cassie B is already planning the next Artists Showcase for late fall so be on the lookout for another Music JunKEY Entertainment Production coming soon!!
