Long Island's "Keepers of the Dream" for Social and Economic Equality

July 13, 2021

Keepers of the Dream Event

Members of the Suffolk and Nassau County community gathered during the "Keepers of the Dream" symposium to discuss achievements; and the challenges that plague people of color and their community. The meeting was moderated by Ms. Renee Porter and commemorated the Juneteenth holiday. A respected list of community leaders from all walks of life spoke as panelists to address topics such as, Mental Health, Financial Literacy, Economic Development and Community Policing. The conversation concluded with a focus on steps and solutions that must be implemented for further achievement and advancement for people of color.

The meeting was sponsored by Chez Laa Reine Boutique and the Haven of Healing Hearts Organization. Haven of Healing Hearts focuses on creating housing opportunities for less fortunate and low to no income families with emergency level needs. It's founder, Nehemiah Gooden explains, "Keepers of the Dream symposiums was created to bring competent minds together to think up comprehensive approaches towards empowering needy families. We want to utilize our existing resources as well as our government resources to meet the needs of disenfranchised families in order to build economic sustainability within our communities."

"We truly hope that other Suffolk county residents will consider participating in our future panel discussions", Says CEO Rhonda Gooden. If interested, please contact Chez Laa Reine LLC at Rhonda@chezlaareine.com
